In my last job we suffered the arrival of some real assholes, but nothing went that far, close but not quite that far.

the worst we ever had was some mouthy buggers who thought they could cause trouble for us and other customers, fortunately I'm a lot taller and more intimidating than they were and when people like that turn around to find a six foot guy standing over them with a look of 'get out or I'll make you eat your own face' in his eyes they do tend to leave bloody sharpish.

Yes I've had to use force to remove people once or twice, not that I told my manager that, and some did return to make a nuisance of themselves, but where I used to work was at the top of a steep hill, and if you hold said little bastard over the edge by his ankles and tell him to 'F**K off or fall' they do get the message and leave, and never return.

Some times it makes me shiver with dismay that the only language these people understand is violence and fear, fortunately I am skilled in the language of fear.

As this was my last job you will have realized that I have left that place (due to health issues nothing else), and to be honest I don't miss it, the stress, the lack of any real gratitude for what you do, the annoying people who know nothing about history but think they do, and worst of all the school kids running around causing mayhem while the teachers who are supposed to keep an eye on them do nothing to stop the trouble they are causing.

Oh well, all that was just part of the problem that caused my health problems and resulted in my leaving,, but who cares anyway.
I'm glad that they a**hole in that story got put away, and I'm glad that they guy who wrote it is alright.
But the real thing I'm glad about is that just for once I've read a story of criminal activity that shows that the criminal has NOT got away with his crime!
A rare thing in this day and age it seems.

The Chicago Irregular Investigators (the CII for short)

The same group of friends responsible for ridding Lakeview High of Roonie Harmon, they have voted to stay together and help keep the streets clean - realising they lack the numbers and means to fight crime personally, the members instead keep their ears to the ground. Whenever a hint of criminal activity drifts their way, they try to alert one of the city's superheroes - mainly by going to one of the places the superhero is said to have been witnessed patrolling and firing a flare gun into the air, hoping that this will draw him/her to them.
While results have been mixed so far, the members are serious about their cause - although of course, there have been problems. They sometimes have to deal with fellow students who want to join them out of a desire for adventure, meaning they have to take care nobody follows them and accidentally scares off their informants or gives away their spying on possible criminals - Harvey (their leader) has also had to reign in certain hot headed members, firmly insisting that they do not try to tackle criminals personally. His sense of duty won't let any of them face serious danger for any reason, believing it's better for a criminal to go free than for anyone to get hurt - this has led to these same members questioning his continued nerve and challenging his continued leadership, though their criticism is countered by the ardent support of the other more faithful members.
Despite these problems and any which may still lie ahead, this group of well intentioned youngsters do what they can...

Current Investigators:

Name: Talia Evans
Age: Sixteen Years Old
Appearance: Her skin is pale and unblemished, her hair sleek black and eyes like the sea at night. Her clothes are low cut leather pants and a partially zipped up coat, her eyeliner and lipstick are black which has led to accusations of being a Goth.

Origin:
When they first met her, Talia was in a bad relationship. Her boyfriend not only pressured her to drink on the streets late at night, he was constantly cajoling and bullying her to 'go all the way' with him. Though she had fended him off for a number of months now, she was close to letting him have his way. Her esteem lower than grass seeds, she was deeply effected by his threats of ditching her. Things came to a head when he gave her an ultimatum, saying she would never find anyone else in school who wanted her.
Talia sat alone at the bus stop after school, pondering the quandary she had been forced into. She eventually decided it would be easiest to let him have his way, reasoning that she would rather be with someone and miserable than alone and miserable. It was then when Harvey Fuller sat down beside Talia, saying that it looked like she had something on her mind. After making small talk for a while, he said he knew about the trouble she was in. Her boyfriend had been bragging about how he was going to 'have his way' with her tonight, making the yellow haired punk concerned even though he and she weren't really friends.
Harvey told Talia she didn't have to do anything she didn't want, begging her not to give herself to someone who treated her like that. Talia angrily demanded to know who he thought he was to give anyone advice, reminding Harvey of the mistakes he had made in the past. Harvey simply nodded and said he knew better than anyone that as bad as things get, they can always get better if we take the first step to make it happen. Getting up and handing her a card, Harvey told Talia the ball was in her court now.
The demanded hour came and Talia went to lover's point, feeling that there was no other way. Her boyfriend cockily handed her a bottle of hooch, saying it would make their first time easier for her although she'd get better with practise. Talia experienced an epiphany as she stared at the liquor, the realisation that this just wasn't worth it. If she let him force her into sex now, it would only be harder to refuse next time. Looking her unsuitable suitor in the eye, she said he'd have to find another unpaid prostitute. He wasn't taking no for an answer however, grabbing her arm and dragging her back.
Talia reacted without even thinking, hitting him with the bottle. As he let go in dazed shock, she walked away with a parting shot. "Glad I gave back your booze, Mr USA. After all, you're not the only bad habit I've decided to kick."
Talia enjoyed the night at the youth center, having found its address written on Harvey's card. She has been a regular member and a loyal friend ever since, eternally grateful to Harvey for saving her from herself. She mainly aids the group by gathering general information, her beauty effective in loosening the tongues of criminals.
The only problem is her brother Connor who believes that the group is leading her to no good, having heard her agree over the phone to meet with them late at night. Luckily she's able to keep him from telling their parents by threatening to tell them about his marijuana habit, though she often finds it necessary to climb out her bedroom window in order to prevent Connor from following and interfering with Irregular Investigator business.

Sayeth Talia: "I have an attitude problem, you say? Funny that, personally I'd say I have the attitude and you have the problem!"

Name: Jacko Henderson
Age: Seventeen Years Old
Appearance: His brownish hair is worn in a long greasy ponytail, his matching eyes often distant and thoughtful. He has a short thin beard and a wispy moustache, his personal opinion being that both look 'distinguished'.

Origin:
Jacko never really ran with the herd. Until recently, that is.
His firstmost love was partly the cause, there being few people who were willing to come near while he played his grunge music. Whenever this was pointed out, he just shrugged and replied that they didn't like his music because they didn't understand it. His secondmost love was long solitary walks in the night, the cool air clearing his head after a long schoolday. And were it not for those he has come to call friends, this nocturnal habit would have proven his downfall.
While out one evening, Jacko heard a scream that came from a nearby carpark. Investigating the sound, he saw a girl from school struggling with an assailant who had an arm around her throat. He yelled a demand for the girl's release, causing the unseen figure to tighten their grip. This tense standoff was brought to an abrupt conclusion, the driver of a police car having heard the scream also. The attacker released the girl, fleeing into the dark night. Jacko knelt and helped up the sobbing girl, glad she was okay and that it was over.
However...
At the moment she was ambushed from behind, the girl had shut her terrified eyes instinctively. So when she opened them and saw her rescuer, she jumped to the conclusion Jacko had been her attacker. The teen found himself arrested for attempted rape, his efforts to explain ignored in the chaos.
He was bailed out the following day after hours of exhausting questioning, heart heavy with the knowledge the police were convinced of his guilt. He had things no better at school when word got around about his supposed crime, shunned by fellow students who considered him a pervert and distrusted by teachers who didn't want him in class.
Harvey Fuller heard the stories too but rather than jumping on the bandwagon, he sat with the outcast teenager once lunch period and asked what had happened that night. Jacko bitterly wondered aloud why he was asking him, given that Harvey could have asked anyone about 'the rapist'. He received a surprise when the other teenager answered, saying they weren't there that night but he was. And since he didn't know what Jacko had to say, Harvey didn't know what to think about it nor him. As Harvey sat with arms folded, Jacko told the truth about what had happened. When he was finally done, he sarcastically asked whether he was innocent or guilty.
Harvey repeated that he wasn't there that night, so he couldn't say which it was. Though if their stories were false and his were true, they would owe him major apologies somewhere down the line. Jacko asked what he really thought deep down and Harvey said that since he hadn't been expelled, the case couldn't be as cut and dried as so many people were saying. Harvey got up and walked away as lunch period ended, saying he would be in touch. Jacko watched the other teenager go, feeling as though light had shone on him for the first time in days.
The relief that someone at least believed him didn't last, however. When Jacko got home that night, he heard his parents arguing in the living room. Apparently a group of parents were planning to meet his principal, demanding his expulsion so that the female students would be safe. And when his father wondered aloud whether he was guilty, Jacko reached breaking point.
Turning and running out of the house, he made for the Clark Street bridge. He had just one urge now, to end this living hell once and for all. Before he could it there through the dark streets, thoughts of suicide were driven from his mind however. Fuming about how the 'sick pervert' had 'gotten away' with it, the brother of the attacked girl was bent on rough justice. Having gathered a posse of fellow hotheads, he came to put the object of his wrath in hospital. Completely surrounded by people who wanted to beat him, Jacko closed his eyes and waited for the first punch. But it never came.
"Okay seriously...back off!"
Harvey had heard on the grapevine about what was going to happen, heard and acted. Having gotten together a bunch of trusted friends from the youth center, he arrived in time to protect Jacko from the mob. As the brother demanded they hand over the teen, his sister ran between both groups. She begged him to stop this, not wanting him to get in trouble with the police. As the brother felt torn between revenge and right, one of his friends encouraged him to be 'a man'. The girl stared at him, her eyes widening in shock. She instantly recognised his sneering voice, he had attacked her that night!
The police arrived to find Harvey's crew struggling to prevent the brother's mob from tearing apart the unmasked rapist, having received reports of a 'gang war' taking place in the streets. Although the rapist was never tried due to lack of evidence, he was hastily relocated to another school by his prudent parents. Jacko was left to live in bitter controversy. Exonerated of the assault though he was, nothing could shake the infamy which still causes some to regard him with suspicion.
He doesn't care, having learnt just who his real friends are. It's the group of people who defended him when everyone else turned against him, the guy who stood by him when many other walked away from him. He's a dedicated member of the Irregular Investigators, his mechanical skills an invaluable asset. It was he who not only provided the night vision binnoculars which nailed 'Red Handed' Roonie but came up with the flare guns they use to get the attention of superheroes. He also makes a mean cup of coffee, a fact that makes up for his taste in music. Slightly.
It was him who inspired the name of their organisation, having enthusiastically compared them to the Baker Street Irregulars. It was infinitely better than another member's suggestion, 'The Untouchables Generation X'. (Another suggested name was 'The Young Warriors' which Harvey vetoed almost instantly, not wanting Sharon Pogue to get the wrong idea about their methods.)

Since the rapist left a lot of nasty friends at Lakeview High, the Irregular Investigators must be wary of vengeful attempts to mess up their fight for right...

Sayeth Jacko: "I have the tools, I have the talent. And when we all work together, we have more than enough talent to make proper tools of this city's criminal types."

Name: Thomas ‘Tommy’ Doyle
Age: 16
Area of Operation: Chicago
Appearance: Dark messy hair, brown eyes, dresses casually
[image]

Origin:
Tommy has always been one of the ‘faceless masses’ at school, the kid no-one sees when they walk past him.
Bullied and tormented for years Tommy figured this was about the best he could hope for from high school life.
When cornered by a group of guys, who had decided that kicking his head in would be fun, Tommy decided this was it, he was doomed.
Fate intervened and Harvey Fuller saw the beating that was about to happen, he stopped the group from beating Tommy and took the scared kid to the youth centre and helped him make friends among the others.
Tommy was among those who helped Harvey rid their school of Roonie Harmon, and was probably the most worried for Talia’s safety as Tommy had developed quite a crush on her.
He is loyal to the C.I.I group and to Harvey in particular, seeing him as the natural leader of the group as he had already done so much to lead them into a better life.
Tommy is a gifted listener and can easily overhear the conversations of others as most don’t notice him when he’s around.
He can be nervous around girls, the prettier they are the more nervous he gets, but this hasn’t stopped him making friends in the C.I.I.

Name: Lori Campbell
Age: 16
Area of Operation: Chicago
Appearance: Blond hair, blue eyes, beautiful, body of a cheerleader (despite not being one), dresses casually.

Origin:
Despite her natural beauty Lori is an outcast at school, this is mostly due to her trauma after the murder of her Mother; Lori was in the house when the murder took place.
Lori had been asleep in her room and was awoken by a scream; she saw a man murder her Mother but was unable to identify him.
The trauma from this made her a loner in life, and ended up with many a bad boyfriend, who either wanted her as a trophy on their arm or a notch on their bed post.
Lori became very depressed, feeling betrayed by the world, she attempted to drown herself but was saved by a member of the local youth group, Talia Evans.
Talia took her to the youth group and introduced her to the others, finally after years of loneliness Lori had found a place to belong.
She was uncertain about the forming of the C.I.I, feeling it was dangerous for them to be spying on criminals.
Her courage is growing and her trust in her friends is complete.
She would never let them down, but can be the voice of concern when plans are being formed.

OOC: I'd just like to thank Velocity for Tommy and Tori's wicked cool bios! 8-)

Caz looked back at the door and screamed.
"HELP! GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

Both Andrew and Mr Boots tried to pull the door open but it wouldn't budge.

The furnace began to ignite, flames sprouted up in-front of the door and then began to move toward the far end and Caz.

She screamed out again.

And began to bang on the walls.
"There is a door at this end, hurry! HELP ME!"

The two men ran to the opposite end of the furnace and tried to open the door, it was stuck.

Mr Boots grabbed a rusted bit of metal from the old boiler room and tried to force it open.
He tried his best, he wedged the metal into the door frame and using the metal like a crowbar tried with all his strength to open the door.
He couldn't even budge it.

He tried to smash the glass in the door, and was able to shatter it.
"Hurry climb out!" he shouted.

Andrew fell back against the wall in horror.

Caz was on fire her burning body tried to drag itself from the furnace but died half way out.

Both vials of the antidote had shattered in the flames.

"Damn it!" Mr Boots growled.

Andrew walked over and looked at the dead girl.
"She wouldn't have died if she hadn't gone for the other vial" he said, his voice filled with remorse.

"No, she had to go in to get the one for herself, but we could have got the other one from this end if we had opened the door, but we didn't look at the problem before sending her in" Mr Boots sighed.

Andrew brushed Caz's burnt hair and looked at the back of her neck.
There was a number written in bright blue ink.

The number 15.

He looked at Mr Boots and spotted a number on his neck.

Number 8.

"We should find the next game, if we want the antidote he said and coughed violently.
The poison was beginning to effect him.

The two men walked around and Andrew went into the room with Theo's dead body.
On the back of Theo's neck was the number 12.

"Mr Boots, could you have a look and see if there is a number on my neck?" Andrew asked.

Mr Boots looked at him but did as he was asked.
"Yes the number 4, what do you think this is about?"

"I don't know, but Theo has a number on his neck as well" Andrew said.

Mr Boots checked "You're right! the safe! It must be the combination of the safe!"

Andrew looked over with hope in his eyes "We need to check Caz" he said.

Mr Boots ran back to the furnace, Andrew went to the safe.

He dialed in the combination using the lowest number first and then working his way to the highest.

4
8
12
15

The door opened and he took the antidote and injected himself.
He also took a key that was in the safe as well.

He then closed the door and spun the combination to reset it.

He walked out of the door and wandered into another room as Mr Boots came back.

Boots looked around and quickly realized what had happened.
"Andrew you cunning bastard" he said and was stabbed from behind by a sharp blade.

"Hello 'Boots' sorry about this" Andrew said with a smile and far more calm and confidence than he had shown from the start.

"Who... are you?" Mr Boots said as he died.

"Me?" Andrew said "I'm surprised you haven't figured it out, I'm the man who hired you all" he said.
"I hired Theo to begin his terror campaign, Caz to steal from a man who I knew would die from fright, and you to kill off those who wouldn't leave, I own the company that is building on the site, I admit I own it through a whole bunch of aliases and other businesses, but it is me who is getting rich from all this" he laughed "And I can't have you messing it all up for me, you know to much and are far to clever for your own good"

Boots died and Andrew went to find a way out.

He did find it as well, the key from the safe opened a locked door and lead to a room that had another tape player in it.
And an ominous bulky thing covered in a white cloth.

Andrew pressed play on the tape.

"Welcome to the exit room"
"Complete this game and the door will open, and you will be free"
"As an added bonus any who have not yet been saved from the poison will get a vial of antidote to cure themselves with"
"All you have to do is work together, all four lines must be drawn out and held taught to open the door"
"Do this for twenty seconds and the door will open and you will be free, fail and you will die here"
"Keep them in the right place however or you will be in trouble"
"Can you work together?"
"Can you work as a team and free yourselves?"
"Time to find out"
"Live or Die, make your choice!"

Andrew's face fell, he pulled the cover off the device and found four high tension cabled on pulleys.
The door to the room closed and locked tight, and there was no keyhole on this side, he was trapped in the room.
He needed to pull all four cables out tight to unlock the exit door.
He needed Caz, Theo and Mr Boots to complete this game.
And they were all dead.
If they had worked together they would have all lived.
If they had kept each other safe they would have all survived.

He pulled one cable out tight and tried to attach it to something.
A light above the door turned green to show it was at the right place to unlock the door.
He tried to hook it onto the wall, the light turned red and four boxes opened, one in each corner.

The boxes had bombs in them.
A voice far to familiar sounded.
"To far I'm afraid, you have activated the bombs"
"All four must be kept in the right place"
"Now the bombs are active and you have thirty seconds to escape"
"Play on"

Andrew screamed out.
"Fuck it! this isn't fair!"

He grabbed the other cables and pulled as hard as he could.
But he was not strong enough to pull them out far enough.
All four were pulling back and he couldn't get them even half way to the unlock point.

The clock ticked down.
He looked at one of the timer on the bomb as it ended.

BOOM!

Tapp sat in his office; it had been a week since Sing had died.
His injury had been stitched up and was already scarring over.
His voice was more horse and gruff than before due to the injury.
He stared at an empty seat on the opposite side of the desk.

His teeth gritted, his fury rose in his chest like a volcano waiting to explode.
"I'll get this bastard partner, I promise, I'll get him and I'll kill him!"

Three days later

Tapp sat in a dingy little apartment watching a derelict house, his instincts screamed this was the place; this was where he would find Jigsaw.

All he had to do now was wait for the chance to kill the man who murdered his partner.
"This is for your wife and kid buddy" he said to a photo of Detective Sing "This is for them; they need to know this guy is dead for what he did as much as I do"

He waited, but nothing moved in that house.

As his eyes felt heavy he slapped himself to stay awake.
A knock at his door made him jump from his seat.
He ran to the door and opened it.
There was no-one outside.
But on the floor was a video tape.

He picked it up and walked to the T.V and VCR in the dingy room.
He put in the tape and pressed play.
A puppet appeared on the screen, the same creepy puppet he had sen so many times before.

"Good evening Detective Tapp"
"I want to play a game!"

Well, I saw "Twilight - New Moon" last night! (By the by, the answer was 'coffin'.)

Definitely better than the last, I reckon! My favourite par, when the wolf clan was hunting Victoria in the woods! The music combined with the special effects, that was pretty damn cool! 8-)
