(OOC: Sorry again for the delay guys, but I'm having trouble finding the time to get a coherent and productive post in. I will try for tomorrow, but things will clear up by the end of the week one way or the other. BTW, there won't be any ruins visible in the water without floating over them, the water's not clear enough. Also, the tower is not jutting from the water, but manifested on the beach.)

"Would it be too much to require SCUBA gear?" Lara asked.
Hellboy turned sharply in Lady Croft's direction. "Nobody is going anywhere until Abe gives the all clear, got it?"
"Really, I must insist-"
"Unless you're going to be growin' gills Croft then you stay put." Hellboy said, putting a fierce emphasis on the final word of his sentence.
Lara sighed and narrowed her eyes at the massive frame of Hellboy. He had her outclassed in strength for sure, but Lara doubted intellect. But not to insult him, she decided to adhere to his request.
"Well at least give me something to scan the ocean floor with." She suggested. "An extra pair of eyes could benefit Mr. Sapien greatly."

(OOC: As the Yankees -- sans Bernie Williams, of course -- have won another World Championship, I'll be returning to action by the weekend. Thanks for your understanding folks.)

Hellboy groaned, Lara was making it clear she wasn't going to accept being kept on the side lines without a fight.
"Listen, it ain't that I doubt your skills OK, Abe tells me you've had underwater combat experience, but lets face the facts here, even with flippers and a handheld motor you're not keeping up with Abe underwater" Hellboy said stating the facts "He's trained for this, and if he meets any trouble he'll lead it to us so we can ventilate the thing, Liz is a good shot and I'm not shabby either, but from your record I know your better than both of us, so if he does lead something back the best place for you to be is here where you can help us kill it"
He looked over the water before them "And we have already been attacked in more than one way, I don't want to put you in any more danger than necessary just yet, Abe is fast, and he's a pro, once he gives the clear you'll be the first one in, I promise, alright"
He made it sound reasonable, and it was clear he really didn't like sending anyone into danger, other than himself, if he could help it.
"We got you covered pal" he said to Abe as the blue skinned agent made his way into the water.

As Abe made his way to the waters edge, Laura looked back over at the tower, its stone structure sticking up from the sand.
For some reason it gave her a chill, a primal instinct inside her screamed at her, it felt wrong.
The sudden and unusual transformation, that had changed her into a wolf that was not her own, still made her shiver. It was like that wolf was not even her body, as if she had switched places with another.
Her whole being felt shaken by the experience.
Someone or something was striking at them, targeting them one type at a time, first the more psychic sensitives and now her.
It was times like this she wished that Danny was around, he had become like an older brother to her and just having him around made her feel better, like she was being watched over, protected almost.
She knew that Hellboy, Liz and Abe would protect her, as she would them, but the familiar comfort we all seek in such times made her think of Danny, her partner and friend.
She looked around at the group and hoped that Lara Croft would not be upset by Hellboy's request that she stay on land until Abe had checked things out first. She hoped that Jericho wouldn't decide that she was a threat after being taken over like that.
A few deep breaths and she regained composer. 'Be a pro Luna, now is not the time to go all weak and scared' she scolded herself mentally.

OOC: Hey folks. I apologize for the extremely long and unconscionable delay, which is partly to do with work and other commitments running up to the holidays, but also due to some legal concerns with regard to our efforts here. Moving forward with developing this setting and characters may leave me in unpleasant circumstances since, however different our takes on them may be, many of the characters and concepts are tied up in various copyrights and trademarks. Apparently, not making money on the thing is not a 'good enough' excuse, and although these guys generally (and smartly) do not pursue efforts like online games and fan fiction, some are more aggressive. I've already had a potential host for the planned LTG database site warn me against posting the material I've written and rescind his offer to host the site, and I was also warned that making money through the Google Ads on the Wiki site (total revenue to date: $0) might be actionable.
I'm not really sure about what to do at this point, and I've been thinking about it for the better part of the week. Now, nothing might ever come of it, and a satisfactory resolution may be as simple as making pastiche characters with some name changes and look changes to go along with the setting changes we've already made, but I'm not sure how satisfactory that would be philosophically (I really adore the characters that I feel are getting short shrift by their owners) or aesthetically (it's a bit more work). In any case, your thoughts would interest me.
In the mean time, I wonder if any of you are on Google Wave, or would like an invite? It's pretty much the way I wanted the game to be run, combining a fully editable email with the presentation of a forum and capabilities of a Wiki. I started a tentative "Open Fiction Project" to hopefully resolve some of the problems I mentioned above and move past them. Please let me know if you'd like to check it out.
Unfortunately, in the mean time I'm going to have to put this story on hiatus and ask that you save all of your work to your hard disk in case one of our hosts, like Wikidot or Proboards, is compelled to pull our plug.

OOC: If it's a question of certain characters that have to be discontinued, then to avoid having anyone in court, the characters (mine included if it is causing problems) will have to go. LTG should continue however the GM and staff wish to and I have no desire to be part of or to witness anyone else have to face civil action.

OOC: It's not any one character specifically, it's the potential for any of the ones that exit under current copyright holders. Even if nothing could be achieved in a lawsuit, the mere threat of one is usually enough to get internet hosts to knuckle under and delete stuff, which is more the issue I'm concerned about.

OOC: This is insane! I mean completely insane! We're not amking any money out of this, it's not hurting anyone, we're just having fun and we're basically advertising their characters for FREE! What is it with the 'Sue any and everyone' attitude of these people! One question, should we save all our stories, past and present, or just the ones of our original characters that they have no right to complain about?

OOC: To clarify: nothing has happened yet, I've not been sued and our sites have not been threatened with removal. This just stems from the copyright paranoia of our potential web host - although he is legally correct, unfortunately, and the jeopardy exists.
I'd recommend saving everything because - hey? Why not? Although they can't have any claim over wholly original characters. If worst came to worst, we could still basically tell the same stories, they'd just be as a pastiche, but I'm still looking into alternatives.
